We can choose what we focus on
Today I'm thinking about the impermanence of life.
The delicate balance of it on this giant rock in the middle of space.
How easy it can be to miss the moments of awe that cost nothing at all, the way a smile, or a kind word, or a soft touch can make you feel, the way a silly dog can make you laugh like a child.
It doesn't last long — in the grand cosmos, we are a tiny blip. But a truly beautiful blip.
As we begin a new year and return to whatever we were doing before — chasing dollars, seeking perfection, optimizing for a future that isn't guaranteed — let's remind ourselves that our time is limited.
Let's remind ourselves to not miss those moments, those opportunities that exist all around us.
While we're here, we can choose what we focus on.
